The holiday season is one of the best times in the year! Parties, winter break and family and friends make it the merriest moments of all.

And what can make these winter holidays even better? Cookies! Think about it: we can take them with a glass of warm milk to fight the cold, they make for a great dessert and we even leave them out for Santa!

There are all kinds of cookies out there and here the Great Harvest in Hillsboro will share with you some of our favorites and how you can enjoy them in this Holiday season!

Delicious Cookies for Your Holidays!

Chocolate Chip
This All-American dessert is the sweetest treat because it includes two of everybody’s favorite things: cookies (duh!) and chocolate chips!

Originally created as an accident in 1930’s Massachusetts, this sweet is now a favorite worldwide. It can be made with a ton of different types of chocolate (white, mint, dark, etc.) and even include other ingredients (like nuts) to up its tastefulness!

To try the Great Harvest version of a chocolate chip cookie, you can go with our Classic Chocolate Chip or select a more healthy (but equally delicious) route with the Brown Rice Chocolate Chip Cookies.

Oatmeal
Oatmeal is good for your body and cookies are good for your taste buds! This winning combination came to be centuries ago in Great Britain, where Scottish people ate oat cakes.  Eventually they made its way to America where, during the first years of the 20th century, the first oatmeal cookies were made!Give a little spin to this delicious recipe and try our own Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies! They’re sure to make your life sweeter!

Raisin
Famously paired up with oatmeal, raisins found their way into Scottish oat cakes some time around the Middle Ages. After that, the recipes evolved and the Oatmeal Raisin Cookie was born in the late 19 century, making a deliciously tasteful moment in history! Here in the Great Harvest Bakery in Hillsboro, we do a killer traditional Oatmeal Raisin Cookie that will go perfectly as a dessert or afternoon snack with a steaming glass of milk!

Think about it: sweater weather is cookie weather! Cookies are a traditional dessert and they’re the perfect companion for these wintery days. Picture yourself drinking a hot beverage in the afternoon and munching on one of these delicious options (or even leaving them out for Santa in Christmas Eve)!
